Google+ Review

If somehow you haven’t heard already, Google launched Google+, their answer to Facebook.  Google+ is not yet available for all users.  For the last couple of days, I have been greeted by a message stating that they have “temporarily exceeded their capacity’ while trying to join.  However, persistence has paid off and I am finally in.  If you are in the same boat, keep trying.  Google+ is adding users each day.

How To Feed Twitter with Your Shared Google Reader Items

I am an avid Google Reader user. Even though the popularity of RSS readers has waned over the last year, Google Reader is still the fastest interface to consume information about the topics that interest me. How can you go wrong with a service where j/k keys are down/up?
One problem I had with Google Reader is that I wanted to easily tweet my shared items to my friends on Twitter. I found a number of solutions with RSS feed functionality such as Hootsuite and TwitterFeed, but was not happy with any of them. Some items were not tweeted and I wanted more flexibility in the scheduling of tweets and formatting. I also found services like Posterous that are integrated with Google Reader to be cumbersome. I want just want to click “shift-s” to share and move on.

After investigating the problem with inconsistent feeding, I believe I understand the issue.

So You Want to Begin Blogging After All These Years

I have decided to join the millennium and create this blog. Although blogging is a long term goal of mine, a number of reasons kept me from starting. I never believed I could commit to regular posting based on my commitments at home and work. I am also a private person and find it uncomfortable sharing my thoughts with a larger audience.
